Queen Bumblebees, the only Bumblebees to live through winter, so the only ones on the wing this early, are certainly out and about feeding a lot again. This is probably the Buff Tailed Bumblebee, one of the common ones, but the colouring of individuals can be deceptive. No wonder they have done scientific experiments to determine how they fly at all. Their wing to body ratio makes it look unlikely. I love the way they completely immerse themselves in crocuses, to get at the nectar, getting spangled with pollen in the process. Conditions: Mild and overcast. Temperature: Max 10- Min 4c.IMG_7933IMG_7939IMG_7972IMG_7969
