6th July 2015

Young Goldfinches today- Here is an adult Goldfinch who turned up with a juvenile. As with young Greenfinches, featured yesterday, the young Goldfinch lacks a lot of the stronger colouring, though this one is already beginning to get the black and white markings on its wings, and the eponymous gold wing bar . I’m also including a photo of an adult Greenfinch and Goldfinch on the feeder together, as I know some people mistake the two birds,  both having a yellow wing bar. Conditions: Cloud and rain through a lot of today, with cooler temperatures. Temperature: Max 16- Min 15c. One of those days when nightime and daytime temperatures vary very little.

The juvenile Goldfinch is beginning to get the wing colouring but has none of the bright head-colours yet
