Hornbeam: Mostly travelling back north today, with rain forecast the whole way, so a quick look at a favourite tree I’ve covered before but which has such lovely autumn foliage and seeds, changing colour earlier than many trees- the Hornbeam. Mostly grown as hedging, or for coppicing you sometimes get a wonderful, big old specimens tree. Conditions: Wet all the night and day! Temperature: Max 11- Min 9 C.
